Magazines for Toddlers???

I'd like to get O a subscription to a magazine for her 2nd birthday which is in July. I'm trying to decide between Highlights High 5 and Your Big Backyard. Does anyone out there in blogland have any advice or opinions about these magazines??? I'd appreciate any input/suggestions that you have. Also, if anyone knows of any other good magazines for toddlers, I'd love to know about them. Thanks!

  1. Tatum gets the Highlights High Five and she enjoys it a lot. She also gets National Geographic Little Kids, which is also a hit. She enjoys getting mail, and she requests the magazines over and over.

  2. Josh gets Your Big Backyard and never looks at it, I have finally just let the subscription run out! We have received a sample for NG Little Kids a few times and these are really nice. I have never seen the High Five one but Highlights is always pretty good quality. I guess, if you are looking for a nature themed go for the NG and just want a general go with High Five!

  3. My little guy (who just turned three) gets both of them from Grandma and Grandpa. He enjoys both very much. I agree with Stephanie, the National Geographic Little Kids is also really great, and may be the best for O if she is just turning two. However, she would most likely really enjoy the others as well. The Little Kids one is smaller sized, easier for little hands to hold. It also has lots of really vivid photos and not as much text. However, still lots of good stimulating info. Hope that helps.

  4. We have been receiving Wild Animal Baby for quite a while and the girls love it. It's a small square with thick pages. My older daughter finally looks at our Your Big Backyard magazines, and she is almost 6. We also enjoyed Babybug magazine until the girls were around 3-3.5. Also a small magazine with thick pages and fun stories, poems, & rhymes. Good luck choosing!

  7. James gets Spider magazine and loves it. They have Ladybug and Click for 3-6 year olds and Babybug for youngers. I have been looking at them for Sean. We also get High Five here. They are really for my nephew, but Sean loves them too.

  8. Wild Animal Baby is best for those under 3. My son used to get that (when he was 3) but now enjoys Your Big Backyard.

  10. We decided on Highlights High 5, and she LOVED it! I didn't renew her subscription since we enjoy reading the old issues so much. We might try My Big Backyard next.
